The number of patented 0 Kilometer vehicles in September was down 0.5% from August and 9.5% from the same month last year, adding 31,681 units compared to 35,014 units during the same period of 2020, according to a report by Association of Automobile Dealers (ACARA).

These are almost epic figures if we keep in mind that today there are practically empty concessions for lack of units to offer (Salomé)
To explain the drop recorded compared to twelve months ago, the president of Acara, Ricardo Salome, noted: “It is a global phenomenon which is also occurring in Brazil, the United States and Japan, due to the crisis of the shortage of electronic chips and which is impacting several industries, but to this resentful global offer is added the little rejection local imported cars, a very serious combo that totally affects the dealership sector”.
However, the manager stressed that the September figures give a cumulative annual report that continues to be positive. “These are almost epic numbers if you keep in mind that today there are practically empty concessions due to the lack of units to offer,” said Salomé.
In this sense, he understood that “the dollar is a priority for the macroeconomics” but at the same time he considered as important “To say that in the activity the trade balance of finished cars with Brazil is positive, this year 230,000 vehicles will be exported, of 25,000 dollars on average, and 180,000 will be imported, of 15,000 dollars on average”.
Looking ahead to the next three months, Acara management recalled that in the first quarter of the year, projections were for a total of 450,000 vehicles, which then rose to 420,000 and are now around 375. 000.
“With an increase in the liberalization of imports, the market could wipe out the 400,000 units and the state would receive an additional $ 600 million,” said the boss of Acara.

“Our activity represents 176,000 direct jobs and 530,000 indirect jobs, but today the fairs are almost empty, without salespeople and there is an entire industry paralyzed.“He added.
And he concluded by saying that the industry can “turn this around with a little push because people understand that the exchange rate differential creates opportunities to acquire vehicles.”
