Pearls, curious spoils of a robbery in a convent of platense

For the nuns of the House of Meeting and Retreat Ceferino Namuncurá, victims yesterday morning of a scruple, the thieves who escaped with a varied booty had prior information. Maybe they knew that besides the chalice and the food, they could put Jamaican pearls in the bag.

"Between yesterday and today, we were three nuns and the priest was gone," Sister Lin told the newspaper.

The criminals took advantage of this circumstance to enter, without being seen or heard, and to flee the territory at 44 and 163 without generating suspicion.

The robbery was discovered in the morning, when the priest came home and, on entering his office, he noticed a complete disorder in this room and in others.

To have access to the large installations, the attackers had to "work". They first detected that one of the windows on the top floor was open. They thought to solve the problem of their access with the piece of pulpit, which they placed against a wall and used as a staircase. However, the length did not allow them to reach the opening.

The next step was to get an object of the necessary height.

As they knew where each thing was (a circumstance that would be repeated inside the enclosure), they removed the grill that covers the window of a shed where they store tools and machines. From there, they took an extensible staircase with which they reached their goal.

PEARLS AND DISORDERS

"The key was not left in the door and they chose the maid from a large group," explained Lin, one of the three reparative sisters of the Sacred Heart, Filipino nationality (the rest from Venezuela) who lives in the house.

According to Lin, "they had to stay long" because "everything was upset, even the priest's room, and they stole objects in different rooms".

According to what they could "see up to now", they took a leaf blower, a chicken box, soft drinks, a chalice (another was forgotten on a office), a coffee maker, a wheelbarrow and a trash can put all the goods.

But the most important was a set of pearls that the sisters brought from the Republic of the Philippines, a country in Southeast Asia famous for its oyster beds. (see separately)

However, a police source said the complaint was not reported.

On the other hand, and according to information provided by Lin, the entire sequence was recorded by security cameras.

"We still do not know how they left, that's why we want to see the film, we have a suspect and we are waiting to see the pictures," he said.

At Casa Ceferino Namuncurá, during the day, employees work in the park and in other parts of the property. In addition, they can usually accommodate up to 200 people indented.
