During the inspection, it was found that the vet had inoculated the Eightfold Vaccine, which is given to dogs to protect them against canine coronavirus, an infection common in these animals.

“It’s very dangerous. There are studies that say the effects in people can be local, such as irritation from the drugs it brings, or systemic effects.”, explained the Secretary of Health of the Antofagasta region, Rossana Díaz, to the news channel 24 hours.

Also the vet Carlos Pardo would have done a study in humans with the vaccine for dogs and apparently gave doses to an unknown number of people to be injected, claiming that it was used to fight against the coronavirus.

Both cases came to light when the Seremi went to the prosecutor’s office to denounce that vets they had not paid the fines that had been set for the application of veterinary vaccines to humans.

The Department of Health issued a resolution in which it is estimated that at least 75 people have received this dog vaccine, including medical staff and mine workers, because in the region of Calama there is the Chuquicamata copper mine, one of the most important in Chile.

“Basically it is experienced in humans”, Paola Carrasco, a veterinarian for the municipality of Calama, said in a statement to a local radio station.
