People vaccinated with two doses of Sputnik do not spread COVID

Research on the results of vaccination is progressing. In the last hours, it was announced that people immunized with the two doses of Sputnik V against the coronavirus, if they get sick, “they don’t emit viable virus, they are not a source of danger to others. And “they have a 14 times minor risk” of suffering from the disease in a severe form, according to the National Gamaleya Research Center in Epidemiology and Microbiology of Russia, developer of the vaccine.

Vaccinated people, if infected with COVID-19 “do not emit viable virus and, therefore, are not a source of danger to others,” said Vladimir Gushchin, head of the Mechanisms of Variability Laboratory populations of pathogenic microorganisms at the Gamaleya Center during a congress, Russia Today reported this afternoon.

Gushchin also assured: “those who received the two doses of the vaccine, in the event of disease, have a 14 times lower risk of suffering from it in a moderate and severe way”.

The Sputnik V vaccine uses human adenovirus technology from two different vectors, Ad26 and Ad5, which are given as two injections. It is a technology that does not contain live human adenoviruses, but adenoviral vectors that do not multiply and are completely safe for health.

So far, the drug has been approved in 66 countries with a total population of over 3,200 million, including Argentina, which started using it at the end of last December.

Sputnik V is 97.6 percent effective, the Russian Direct Investment Fund reported on April 19 after analyzing data from 3.8 million Russian citizens vaccinated.
