Pepe Mujica’s harsh prognosis on the world, after COVID-19

In the midst of the crisis facing South America due to COVID-19, the former president of Uruguay, José “Pepe” Mujica gave its opinion on the current situation in the region, the different steps that can be taken to stop the virus and how the world will look after the pandemic. “The world will come out worse from the pandemic,” he said.

In an interview with Volver Mejor, at Uncover radio, Mujica assured that the pandemic would worsen because of the “death toll, secondly because of the economic catastrophe and thirdly because those who will pay the worst are the weakest”. Regarding the care measures, Mujica assured: “It is impossible to conform to everyone, especially when one commits ‘infamy’ to put your hand in the pocket of those who have a lot to alleviate social inequalities” and He added that when looking at Argentina, what scares him “is the degree of virulence of the gap”. To this, he added: “One thing is to disagree and another is to create a barrier as if we are different species.”

Regarding the various elections and the political state of the region, Mujica was very harsh: “They say cities are not wrong, I don’t agree. They are built by humans and humans are often wrong. . Sometimes they decide on things that in the long run go very against their interests. What happened in Brazil has a lot of that. “
