Peru knows hours of tension after the impeachment of President Martín Vizcarra for “moral incapacity”, after being accused of receiving a bribe in 2014 while he was governor of the Moquegua region.

After the violent demonstration a video went viral where one of the citizens was shot in the head for not wanting “clear” Avenida Nicolás de Piérola, popularly known as La Colmena. The victim, Yoel maylle, he miraculously saved his life by wearing a protective case over his head at the time of impact.

So far, the National Human Rights Coordinator has reported 112 injured and 41 missing, in addition to 2 deaths. The agents’ actions have been called into question by the UN and human rights organizations.
