Peruvian justice on Monday refused the authorization requested by the presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori go to Ecuador, where she had been invited by the writer Mario Vargas Llosa to participate on Saturday in a forum of the International Freedom Foundation (FIL).

Fujimori, daughter and political heiress of former President Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000), need a judicial authorization to travel abroad, as he faces a charge of 30 years and 10 months in prison for alleged money laundering during his previous election campaigns.

The judge Victor Zuniga, responsible for overseeing the investigation and prosecution against Fujimori, rejected the request considering that the Peruvian authorities cannot monitor the foreigner who respects the restrictions imposed by the magistrate, such as not meeting other respondents or witnesses to the case.

The authorization had been requested by Fujimori’s lawyer, Giulliana Loza, to be able to leave Peru between May 22 and 24, because the forum is scheduled for Saturday 23 in a hotel in Quito.

To this forum, titled “The challenges of freedom», She was invited by Vargas Llosa, president of the International Foundation for Freedom, who expressed his support for the candidate in this electoral process where she competes in the second round against the left candidate Pedro Castillo.

Vargas Llosa, enemy of Fujimori since he lost the presidency to Alberto Fujimori in 1990, first applied to vote for Keiko, which for the third consecutive time reached the second round of a presidential election.

The vote is called for Sunday June 6 and the winner will rule Peru for the next five years., a mandate that will begin on July 28, commemoration day of the 200 years of independence of Peru.
