Pfizer Vaccine helicopter crashed, missed all doses | the Chronicle

A helicopter of Uruguayan Air Force who had laboratory vaccines Pfizer against the coronavirus is caught fire after an emergency landing what he had to do when he suffered from mechanical failure and this they missed all the doses.

Diego paints, Director of Health of the Uruguayan Department of Rocha, reported that the accident happened this morning, around 2 a.m., in a rural area 30 kilometers from the city of Rocha, at kilometer 184 of Highway 9.

According to Air Force, in the Bell 212 helicopter they travelled three crew members who suffered minor trauma, although they were admitted for observation at the local hospital.

The aircraft is part of the distribution plan of the third shipment of vaccines from Pfizer who arrived last night in the neighboring country.

After the forced landing, the helicopter caught fire and by the fireside the two boxes containing the doses have been lost with which about 300 adults over 80 were to be vaccinated.

Uruguay received in the last hours a new batch of 50,000 vaccines from the pharmacy Pfizer, which were added to the 100,000 that had arrived weeks before. The Uruguayan government expects about 50,000 doses to arrive each week until the end of April.

Until more than 400,000 Uruguayans, 11.5% of the population, were vaccinated with batches of CoronaVac Yes Pfizer.

Since the start of the pandemic, Uruguay had 86,007 positive cases of coronavirus, 14,826 people develop the disease and 827 died.
