Pope Francis on Thursday issued new rules to denounce badual abuse and concealment in the Catholic Church, ordering for the first time that any case of abuse or concealment by a priest or bishop be reported to religious authorities.
The new rules also require that All Catholic dioceses in the world have a "public and accessible" system for reporting before June 1, 2020.
The rules do not deal with the issue of information of civil authorities. They only deal with the internal procedure of the Catholic Church.
There previously was no uniform universal system in the Catholic Church to inform and investigate abuse and concealment.
These new Vatican laws must be followed by all the Catholic churches in the world, it says.
