The words “quarantine” and “pandemic” have been used the most in this year 2020 which is ending, reported this Thursday the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) from its website.

“Not much can be said about 2020 that doesn’t seem obvious. The coronavirus pandemic that has rocked the world has caused radical changes in our lives which, of course, have left an indelible mark on the language,” said they explained.

And they detailed a list of twelve terms that they called “the most significant words of the year, depending on the national and global context”, according to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) and the Association of Academies of the Spanish language (ONE SALE).

Among this list of twelve, established by each organization, “quarantine” and “pandemic” are the most repeated words.

The lists made include, in addition to these two words: asymptomatic, containment, contagion, coronavirus, Covid-19, remoteness, uncertainty, mask and telework.
