Province: 180 schools open only to apply vaccines

In 180 schools in the province of Buenos Aires starts from today the vaccination campaign for teachers and people over 70. Schools are already equipped, but the arrival of vaccines is still awaited. Although the start of classes, scheduled for March 1, is imminent, some city officials are wondering if the two activities are compatible.

The Buenos Aires Ministry of Health, which is carrying out the operation, asked to condition some schools. In Murder 16 institutions will be used for vaccinations, where vaccination exercises have already been carried out. “We already have everything ready to start what will be the largest vaccination operation in history. The municipality of Moreno, in charge of Mariel Fernández, has two schools for vaccination. As they do not believe that this can be maintained with the start of the courses, they have proposed alternatives, which are not yet confirmed. “We think it will not be compatible, but it will depend on the system put in place by the province,” they commented.

In the case of Pilar, the vaccination will be done in one school. Close to the mayor Federico Achával, they indicated that once the pupils have to return to the classrooms, the campaign, which would last just over a week, must be dismantled.

According to ruling party officials, face-to-face classes may start in parallel with immunization, as students could be incorporated gradually. They added that they prefer not to resort to vaccination so as not to intervene in the development of the annual vaccination schedule for other diseases.

Communes ruled by Together for Change, they have sowed doubts about vaccination in schools, after the discomfort caused by the participation of official political organizations in enrollment.

“It’s a contradiction at the start of face-to-face lessons. The city of La Plata has seven of the most important hospitals in the province and 46 primary health care centers in the municipality. It would be the best way to cover the whole territory, even without an agglomeration of people and in a planned way, ”said Mayor Julio Garro, after transferring 12 educational establishments for vaccination.

Sources close to Garro claimed that this had a political explanation: “Just as they started the vaccination campaign with the partisan tables of La Cámpora and in the premises of the PJ, we see that the municipalities of Juntos por el Cambio do not receive no more interaction towards the vaccination campaign itself ”.

Of the six schools in Tres de Febrero selected by the Buenos Aires ministry, two of them will be able to launch the campaign this week. From the municipality, led by an opponent to the government, they reported that, according to the province, the vaccines would arrive today and that tomorrow everything would be in shape to start the process, which already had an exercise at School No.10 in Loma Hermosa.

At General Pueyrredón, two schools will be used. Sources from the VIIIth Health Region confirmed that everything is ready and that, out of the 12,000 vaccines for this area, the municipality will receive 3,000.
