This Monday, Argentina has received 804 thousand doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against the coronavirus, who are part of the first batch of vaccines whose active ingredient was produced in Argentina. As reported by the Ministry of Health, on Wednesday the distribution process will begin.

After customs clearance, reception, thermal control, counting, fractionation and packaging, between Wednesday and Thursday, the 24 jurisdictions of the country will receive doses of the vaccine jointly developed by the University of Oxford and the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

The criteria established by the ministry to determine how many doses will go to each location is applied on the basis of the number of inhabitants of each district and the minimum packaging unit. In this way, they will be distributed as follows:

The arrival of this batch of vaccines took place on Monday on LATAM CARGO flight UC1101, which came from Miami and landed at 6:40 p.m. A few minutes later, at 6:53 p.m., 609,965 doses of component 1 of the vaccine arrived Sputnik V, which were transferred to Aerolineas Argentinas flight AR1061, which took off from the Russian Federation.

In addition, by Sunday afternoon, 204,000 more vaccines had arrived from AstraZeneca. These are part of the COVAX mechanism of the World Health Organization (WHO). In addition, tomorrow at 6.15 am, a new flight from Amsterdam will arrive in Argentina with 657,600 AstraZeneca vaccines, also from said mechanism; and in the afternoon, arrival of an Aerolineas Argentinas flight with doses of Sputnik V.

With these batches of vaccines, Argentina will exceed 15,000,000 doses received.

Until this morning, according to data from the Public Vaccination Monitor (the online register that shows the vaccination operation in real time throughout Argentina), 12,642,454 vaccines have been distributed, of which 11,242,209 have already been applied: 8,807,373 people received the first dose and 2,434,836 both.
