Today, the government of Buenos Aires allowed the registration for those over 60 to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. In this way, from 8:15 am this Friday, registration is activated through the website of the city of Buenos Aires.

In a few minutes, the Minister of Health, Fernan Quirós, will hold a press conference and officially announce the start of the third stage of the vaccination plan against COVID-19. Then, in the coming days, the allocation of teams will begin as new doses are received from the national government.

How to register?

1) Enter buenosaires.gob.ar/vacunacovid

2) Complete the personal data form.

3) A registration confirmation email, WhatsApp message and SMS will be sent.

4) Then you will be contacted by WhatsApp, mail and / or SMS to perform the shift assignment. The neighbor will be able to select the day, the hour and the vaccination preferably thanks to an online management system.

Step by step vaccination

1) Approach the center on the day and time indicated in the shift.

2) Present the DNI in the reception and registration area.

3) Wait for the call from the health team to receive the vaccine.

4) Once administered, it should be observed for half an hour.

5) Once this period has elapsed, the neighbor will receive the corresponding certificate and can return home.

6) You will be contacted again to be assigned the round of application of the second dose, which can be given after an interval of 12 weeks.

The public vaccination centers have been specially equipped and are strategically distributed throughout the territory of Buenos Aires. SThey are located in clubs, government buildings and cultural centers and operate Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Each of these points complies with all the corresponding biosecurity measures and is equipped with adequate refrigeration systems for the proper storage of vaccines.

According to official data, since December 29, 618,151 people received the first dose of Sputnik-V, Sinopharm or Covishield vaccine from Oxford-AstraZeneca in the city. Of the total, 121,794 have already completed vaccination with the second request. Thus, 739,945 vaccines have been applied in the territory of Buenos Aires, which represents 98.9% of the 748,200 vaccines delivered to date by the national government.

In parallel, CABA continues with the last section of the first stage, which includes health personnel from the public, private and independent system, and the second, which includes adults over 70 years old. Online registration remains open to all members of these priority groups who have not yet received the vaccine.

As for national statistics, the Nation’s Health Ministry reported on Thursday that in the past 24 hours, 561 deaths and 26,053 new coronavirus infections were recorded. With these numbers, the total number of people infected since the start of the pandemic is 2,954,943 and deaths are 63,508.

At the same time, the number of deaths reported in the last epidemiological report is the highest since the start of the pandemic.

Of the 26,053 new cases reported this Thursday, 2,972 are from the city of Buenos Aires. Meanwhile, of the 561 deceased, 60 correspond to CABA.

On the other hand, according to the latest SARS-CoV-2 variant surveillance report in AMBA published by the PAIS project consortium, Almost 60% of COVID-19 cases in CABA match strains from UK and Manaus. The same is happening in Greater Buenos Aires, where these strains have increased their circulation in recent weeks.
