Relatives of the perpetrator of the shooting in the United States have asked for forgiveness and assured that they are trying to give him “the help he needs”.

The family of the suspect in Thursday’s shooting in Indianapolis (Indiana, USA) with eight dead said on Saturday that tried to give him “the help he needed”, after learning that he had been held in a psychiatric detention center in the past.

In a brief statement, Relatives of Brandon Hole, 19, who took his own life after the attack, expressed “sincere and sincere apologies” to the victims, their families and residents of Indianapolis for “this senseless tragedy” .

“We are devastated by the loss of life caused by Brandon’s actions; thanks to the love of his family, we tried to give him the help he needed “They explained in the note.

According to the police version, Hole opened fire indiscriminately on Thursday night at a warehouse owned by the postal service company FedEx, killing eight people and injuring five, before shooting himself.

Authorities finished identifying the dead on Friday, four of whom were members of the Sikh community, a creed from the state of Punjab, India.

This Saturday, several vigils are organized in tribute to the victims of the massacre in different parts of Indianapolis, such as West Side Park and in front of City Hall.

An FBI press release, quoted by the channel on Friday CNN, revealed that Hole was in the past temporarily held in a psychiatric detention center and that a gun was seized from him at the time.

His mother told the FBI in March 2020 that her son could attempt to kill himself by behaving threateningly in order for security forces to shoot him.

Hole was questioned a month later by the FBI, who saw in him no “racially motivated violent extremism” or found him guilty of a felony, although the seized weapon was not returned to him.
