French political scientist Olivier Duhamel admitted to justice on Wednesday to have abused his stepson, which confirms the story of sexual assault that Camille Kouchner -sister of the victim and, in turn, the daughter-in-law of the accused – formulated in a delivered titled “Family brilliant ”, where in addition to telling the crime, he criticizes the condescension of an environment which knew this aberrant practice and preferred to look away.

Duhamel was questioned by the police for the protection of minors as part of the investigation opened on January 5 by the Paris prosecutor’s office for rape and sexual assault, according to several French media, including Le Figaro.

According to reports, the political scientist admitted the facts “with difficulty” during his appearance. However, the crimes allegedly committed in the early 1980s have already expired and therefore cannot be prosecuted.

The case arose after the publication of the book “The Big Family” and had immediate effects on the reputation of Duhamel, who immediately resigned from his multiple functions as president of the National Political Science Foundation (FNSP). In turn, Europe 1 and LCI also canceled their contract as presenter and columnist in various cycles.

Kouchner – daughter of the founder of the humanitarian organization Médecins sans frontières and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Bernard Kouchner – and her brother have already been questioned by investigators.

In her book, the woman accuses her stepfather of having assaulted and raped her twin brother, nicknamed “Victor” to protect his privacy, from the age of 14, in the late 1980s, in a series of episodes that lasted for several years. “I was 14 years old, I knew it and I didn’t say anything”, admits the author in “The big family”, the publication of which pushed the Parisian justice to open an investigation for “rape and sexual assault”.

In 2008, she and her brother revealed to their mother, Évelyne Pisier, the two years of incest that the teenager suffered in the 1980s. If her brother had not wanted to make the facts public to protect himself, their mother, who died in 2017, he preferred to support his partner.

Friends of the Duhamel-Pisier couple knew it, Koucher said, but maintained a deafening silence for more than a decade, severing or preserving their ties with a culprit who never denied the allegations. “Many knew it and most claimed that nothing was happening,” said the author during the presentation of the work, where in addition to telling the episode, she constructs the hypothesis of an elite placed above moral standards and principles and capable of justifying the most disgusting behavior of its best representatives.

For his part, the victim in question did not make a statement to the press, although, according to the newspaper Le Monde, he said he had read the manuscript and accepted that his sister speak on his behalf. “I confirm that what my sister wrote about Olivier Duhamel’s actions towards me is correct,” he told the Parisian newspaper.

For his part, Bernard Kouchner, in a press release published by his lawyer, declared that “a great secret which weighs on us for too long has been fortunately raised. I applaud the courage of my daughter Camille”.
