The anthropologist and specialist of gender issues Rita Segato will be in charge of the inauguration of the 45th International Book Fair of Buenos Aires, announced the Book Foundation, organizer of the meeting.
Referent of feminism and the problem of violence against women, Segato is established as a key word at the international level. Among the distinctions and awards received, mention may be made of Latin American and Caribbean Social Science Prize CLACSO 50 years, in 2017. She is the author of many books, including The basic structures of violence; The nation and its others; and Against pedagogies of cruelty.

Segato studied high school and university in Buenos Aires, graduated in anthropology from UBA and graduated from the Municipal Conservatory "Manuel de Falla" and from the National School of Dance. He then specialized in ethnomusicology at the Interamerican Institute of Ethnomusicology and Folklore of Caracas and eventually obtained his Ph.D. in Social Anthropology at Queens' University of Belfast.
She has been a professor in the Department of Anthropology of the University of Brasilia, interdisciplinary postgraduate programs in bioethics and human rights of that same institution. Since 1998, she has been a researcher at the National Research Council of Brazil and a visiting professor at various doctorates in American universities.
