The decision of the opposition party is given by the small margin of difference between the CD candidate and the Revolutionary Party (PRD), Laurentino "Nito" Cortizo. Cortizo acknowledged Roux 'right to use constitutional resources to ensure the transparency and validity of the elections, but he said he was confident of winning with over 40,000 votes in his favor.
