The Russian government on Monday denounced what it considers as an attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of Venezuela of several European countries that have recognized the Venezuelan opposition leader, Juan Guaidó, as a "president in charge" of Venezuela.

"We perceive attempts to legitimize the usurpation of power like a direct and indirect interference in the internal affairs of VenezuelaKremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov told reporters.

Until now, the Chavez regime has rejected the exhortations of the European powers, who do not recognize the irregular process of last year in which Maduro was elected for a new term.

The Russian government, an important ally of Caracas at the international level and with strong economic and military interests in the country, said that the external pressures "do not favor in any case a peaceful, effective and viable solution to the crisis that crosses Venezuela". In this sense, the Peskov spokesman said that only Venezuelans should find a solution.

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey LavrovHe also criticized the "ultimatum" given by the EU in Maduro for demanding early presidential elections, and said that Moscow supports the initiatives presented by some Latin American countries, such as Mexico and Uruguay, and that they provide for the national dialogue "with the participation of all the political forces of Venezuela", without recognition of Juan Guaidó.

In this sense, Lavrov has questioned the mediation format proposed by the EU, which includes the creation of a working group consisting of representatives from some European and American countries Latin.
