Russia prepares "conciliatory" resolution on Venezuela – ElSol.com.ar – Diario de Mendoza, Argentina

Russia is preparing a draft "conciliatory" resolution on Venezuela to be presented to the UN Security Council, said the head of Latin America at the Foreign Ministry, Alexander Schetinin.

"We have proposed a project that can serve as a basis for consensus or, at least, can garner the most support," said the diplomat, who did not reveal the content of the project.

Schetinin explained that the countries are currently debating the various proposals that will be submitted to the Security Council, including a US proposal calling for new elections in Venezuela.

Russia has expressed strong support for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, facing the support of the United States, Canada and most Latin American and European countries to the President of the National Assembly Juan Guaidó, who proclaimed himself President on 23 January. Venezuela

Moscow, one of Maduro's leading supporters alongside China and Turkey, rejects the call from Europe and the United States to the Venezuelan president to call elections.

He also denounced the external interference in Venezuela's internal affairs, particularly on the part of the United States, a country accused of preparing a violent regime change in the South American nation and arguing that it is the Venezuelans who solve the crisis.
