Two fighter planes of the most modern version of the MiG-31, the MiG-31BM supersonic fighter-interceptors, organized a simulated combat against an intruder in the stratosphere of Russian airspace. The video of the "confrontation" was published by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

"For the first time, the new high-altitude, modernized MiG-31BM combat interceptors took part in an airborne battle on the roof," he said from the Eastern Military District Press Service for the Russian Fleet .

The chase proceeded at a speed of 2500 km / h and at an altitude above 20 000 m. The role of the intruder was also recreated by a MiG-31BM, charged to penetrate at maximum speed in Russian airspace in the lower stratosphere.

As the agency added, the crew of interceptor fighters searched for "the enemy" without resorting to ground-based air defense systems.

After successfully capturing "intruder", the MiG-31BM crew also launched long-range air-to-air missile electronic launches.

The MiG-31 fighter aircraft has remained in service since the 1980s and has undergone several improvements over the years. Its most modern version, the MiG-31BM, consists of improved radar and fire control systems. The fighter is able to carry a wide range of weapons, from anti-aircraft missiles to guided bombs.
