Spain is shocked after the death of a 24-year-old at the hands of a group of attackers in the early hours of this Saturday in La Coruna. Samuel luiz he was brutally beaten by a group of 12 people who assaulted him because of his sexual orientation.
The aberrant crime occurred as part of the Spanish community’s return to nightclubs until 3 a.m. and occurred against a backdrop of extreme violence that ended Samuel’s life as that produced.
According to information from his relatives, the young man was with a friend of his in the streets of La Coruña, making a video call via his mobile phone, when he was suddenly insulted by a couple who thought they were being filmed. One of these people started shouting to stop recording them. Samuel and his companion wanted to prove that it was a misunderstanding and immediately showed that on the phone screen there was another person logged in and talking.
This is where the unfortunate episode would begin: the man who thought he was being filmed screamed “Either stop recording or I’ll kill you, queer”. Samuel was not ashamed of his sexual orientation, so – without knowing what could happen – he replied “Grandpa of what?”.
Her attacker reacted and savagely beat Samuel. The woman who was with him tried to separate them, but to no avail. Until a nearby man arrives and, after struggling, manages to stop Samuel’s beating.
However, the worst was yet to come. The assailant had decided to leave and Samuel was injured, but not seriously, when five minutes later the abusive man returned with 12 other people. “Fagot Fuck ! Shouted the peloton as they approached the young man. At this point, Samuel could neither react nor get out of the situation and he was beaten to death.
A few minutes later, a local police cell phone and an ambulance arrived to transfer him. However, it was already too late. After being admitted to the emergency room, Samuel died in hospital in La Coruña.
The case has sparked protests and demands for justice, both on social media and in some of the world’s major cities, as it is a criminal product of sexual diversity intolerance.
