Santander government denies that officials in traffic accident were drunk

On September 19, the government of Santander responded to the charges against the officials involved in the traffic accident in the village of Palmira, in the municipality of Curití.

According to some citizens of the accident area, the officers were in an apparent state of intoxication and there were bottles of beer in the truck.

Andres Balcazar, the physical resources coordinator for the Santander government, said officials tested negative for the breathalyzer at the hospital where they were treated.

“As soon as we learned of the accident, two officials were transferred to the hospital, previously they were checked and they were fine, we asked for the breathalyzer anyway and it turned out negative, they did not ‘weren’t under any degree of alcohol,’ he explained.

He also said he didn’t know how the beer cans got to the place. and reported that from the hospital they denied that the drivers were drunk

“I couldn’t answer why there were cans (of beer), what I understand is that in this house there was still a store, so there may be cans in its surroundings, but the evidence we have indicates that the officials were not drunk “the official said according to Blu Radio.

He also said that at present, proceedings are progressing with the vehicle insurance company, which was supporting the interior minister’s visit to Barichara, to pay damages to the affected family.

“We have advanced communication with the insurer, we comply with the regulations, the car has its SOAT, everything is at risk, and obviously they will be responsible for responding for the damage.”

Finally, it is sought if there was recklessness during maneuvering on the road, which would have led to the accident.

The accident happened around 10:00 p.m. when the vehicle hit a store belonging to the Aparicio family. Yaneth Aparicio, a family member, spoke to the station on September 18 and said the man was drunk.

“I just closed the door and heard this noise, the Blessed Virgin gave me a lot of fear (…) happened, no one came here You must ask what happened, who we responds, ”Aparicio said.
