Scandal in the Dark Module 11: A prisoner was kidnapped, tortured and ill-treated for 40 days in a Uruguayan prison

He is 28 years old. His sentence lasted four months. It was the first time that I was jailed for theft. They sent him to Unit 4, Santiago Vázquez Prison, formerly known as Comcar. Inside he had module 11 with many other prisoners.

Module 11 is one of the worst in this prison, which is one of the worst prisons in Uruguay. There inside there 750 people deprived of liberty and during night shifts there is only one policeman for the whole module.

That man he was kidnapped for 40 days by five other prisoners who shared a cell with him. They held it, beat it, cut it, beat it with wood with nails at the end. He has a hip dislocation associated with a previous injury in his life. They sexually assaulted him. He suffers from malnutrition, suffers from anemia and an infection.

The public complaint was filed by journalist Gabriel Pereyra on Twitter and attaches what he called “horror picturesWhich are very graphic photos of the prisoner’s condition after this situation.

He added another tweet about it and wrote the following: “One morning, the phone wakes you up. Your son, your lovely grandson, made a mistake: he drove drunk and killed two children. He’s going to jail. And now you know where your beloved son is going, these things are happening. And you look the other way for so long. And now it’s late.“

After the cell chief was released, the man was released for medical assistance, according to The Daily. This happened because the cell next door was pressuring. They referred him to a polyclinic for help and had to be transported in a wheelchair. The inmate was removed from module 11 and installed in module 9.

Parliamentary Prison Commissioner Juan Miguel Petit said Telemundo that he was informed last Thursday and lodged a criminal complaint with the prosecution. Once the situation was known, a visit was made to module eleven where all cells were opened to find other people who might be going through the same thing. After this operation, the figures of the number of people living in the module were published.

“It was determined that seven inmates are underweight, in most cases associated with problematic drug use“, Informed the Ministry of the Interior in a statement.

Regarding the measures taken after the incident, the minister dismissed the director of module 11 from his duties and appointed another officer who will be in charge of two modules, 11 and 10. 56 police officers have joined the INR (Institut National Rehabilitation) so that we start having two troops in each module overnight, instead of just one.
