Second wave of Covid-19 in Europe: all primary schools in London close

The UK will close all primary schools in London for two weeks in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the region.

According to “The Guardian” newspaper, the government has accepted requests from ten areas of London where closures were not planned.

However, not only in London are they asking the UK executive to shut down classrooms, but the leading education union has called for the shutdown across the rest of the country, after four consecutive days with more than 50,000 new cases of coronavirus, recording a new register of cases this Thursday.

“What’s good for London is good for the whole country,” said National Education Union secretary general Mary Bous.

Two million vaccinations per week

On the other hand, according to “The Times”, the AstraZeneca and Oxford vaccines will have a distribution of around two million weekly doses.

Production managers expect to hit that pace in two weeks.

Pressure on the government to increase the vaccination rate has increased in the face of the high number of hospitalizations due to the coronavirus.

Use of the Oxford vaccine will begin Monday with around 530,000 doses available.
