Senior US security official resigns

he United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad wolf, resigned from his post, where he was in office, just nine days before the inauguration of the president-elect, Joe biden.

The resignation will be effective at the end of Monday, according to sources in the Department of Homeland Security quoted by the newspaper “The Hill”.

Wolf thus becomes the latest in a series of senior officials who have resigned administration of President Donald Trump following the assault on Capitol Hill on January 6 by supporters of the current president. They previously left their posts Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

Wolf had been acting Home Secretary for a year. In August, Trump firmly offered him his job, but the Senate did not come to confirm it. Last week the White House itself withdrew the nomination.
