Sergio Massa travels to Rome to participate in the G20 Summit of Speakers of Parliament

The president of the House of Representatives, Sergio massa, will participate next Thursday and Friday in the city of Rome of the 7. G20 Summit of Speakers of Parliament, which will be the sole leader of Latin America which will be featured in one of the central panels of the meeting.

Under the slogan “Parliaments for the peoples, the planet and prosperity”, the summit will have as its central axes the climate change and the plans nations are proposing to recoup their savings after the coronavirus pandemic.

Speakers of parliaments from the Group of 20 countries will be represented at the event, which consists of The United States, China, Germany, France, Japan and the United Kingdom, as well as Mexico, South Africa, India and Argentina, among others.

Pulp will travel to Wednesday at Rome after the special session he will chair on Tuesday during which the front-end labeling project for foods will be debated.

Summoned by the presidency of the P20, the head of the Argentine lower house will be a speaker in one of the central panels of the summit entitled “Relaunching economic growth in terms of social and environmental sustainability”.

Pulp will share the space with the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli (Italy), and the Presidents of the Lok Sabha (House of the People or Lower House) of India, Om Birla, and the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina , according to parliamentary sources.

The participation in the summit of Roberto Fico, president of the Italian Chamber of Deputies; Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, President of the Italian Senate, and Duarte Pacheco (Portugal), President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Mario Draghi, will be the main speaker of the plenary session.

The program will take place over two days, which will take place at Palazzo Madama where the Italian Senate operates.

The meeting will feature visiting specialists such as Qu Dongyu, FAO Director General; Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the OECD; Luca Visentini, Secretary General of the European Trade Union Confederation, and Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of the UN, among others.

At the end of the meeting, the parliamentary authorities of the countries which represent approximately 90% of the world GDP and nearly 2/3 of the world population will sign a joint declaration for the construction of an international consensus on world problems.

Among the main topics, the declaration will include aspects related to economic recovery, mass immunization, strengthening of health systems, defense of the most vulnerable social sectors, gender equality, food security, protection of the environment and the prosperity of countries.
