Ashley Judd, 52, is hospitalized and is recovering from serious leg surgery after being involved in an accident in Congo. In a live broadcast from her Instagram account, the actress shared what happened to her while in hospital.

The Hollywood star explained that during a walk in the jungle, he tripped over a fallen tree and broke his leg in four places.

The American actress visits the rainforest of this Central African country twice a year to promote actions in defense of bonobos, also known as pygmy chimpanzees, an endangered species.

Judd explained how his accident progressed in a live dialogue with his friend, New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof.

And he continued: “If this same accident had happened to a Congolese person, without access to medical care, without pain medication, without any type of service or options, it is highly likely that he would have lost his leg or died. .

From the hospital bed where she is being admitted, Judd explained that her injuries to her right leg will take some time to heal.

The specialist doctor assured him that he will walk again, but that he does not know when and that he is in no rush.. “I have a journey ahead of me, but I remember sometimes the darkness is not so far from the light”he thinks.
