"I am aware of the problems, not only of the badual abuse of the nuns, but also of the abuse of power"said the Argentine pontiff at the Vatican to some 800 senior nuns.

"Please, service, yes, servitude, no!" He said.

The church has nearly 700,000 nuns around the world.

"You did not become a nun to be the maid of a cleric!"insisted the pontiff, who asked for a mutual effort to put an end to this culture, especially to the superiors.
