Several medium-magnitude earthquakes have been recorded in the past few hours in various parts of northern Chile without bodily injury having been reported at this time.
According to local media, the affected regions are Atacama, Coquimbo and Valparaíso, which suffered earthquakes with a magnitude between 5.8 and 5.9 which, although they did not record any material damage, alarmed the population.
The National Center for Seismology, the first earthquake had a magnitude of 5.9, with an epicenter 50 kilometers southwest of Huasco.
Half an hour later, another 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred, the epicenter of which was 49 kilometers southwest of Huasco.
The National Emergency Office (Onemi) stressed that no damage to people, no modification of basic services or infrastructure has been reported., ensures the Emol portal.
Similarly, the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA) reported that the characteristics of the seismic movement do not meet the conditions for declaring a tsunami alert on the coasts of the country.
