This initiative aims at giving Venezuelans temporary protection status (TPS), a legal formula in force for decades that prevents deportation and gives work permits to citizens of countries in conflict situations, humanitarian crises or natural disasters. who are already in the United States.

In the previous legislature a group of senators had promoted a similar project.
