In Oklahoma City, United States, a 24-year-old young man was arrested and charged with abuse for the pregnancy of a girl under 12.
As reported by the Tulsa Police Department, the arrest took place on July 14. That day, staff at Hillcrest Hospital reported the episode to authorities.
The man, Juan Miranda-Jara, from Mexico, accompanied the minor to give birth and even introduced himself as her partner. Then he was detained in the same hospital and charged with first degree rape of a minor.
According to what Danny Bean, a police officer who participated in the arrest, said, Juan Miranda and the young girl “entered the hospital like a normal couple; they were delighted to have a child ”.
Authorities investigated the case and found that the relationship began in October 2020.
In addition, the family knew about everything. On Facebook, both Juan Miranda and the minor posted photos of a baby shower. In addition, in their profiles, they detailed that they had a romantic relationship.
According to US law, Juan Miranda-Jara has committed rapes and crimes against children. The girl is not of legal age to decide to have a romantic relationship with an adult. The minimum age for sexual consent in the state of Oklahoma is 16.
Moreover, the man is not the only one to be prosecuted for this case. The girl’s mother has been identified as Desiree Castañeda. She was charged with child neglect and permitting the sexual abuse of a minor.
