When they found her in the town of Hope, Indiana, rescuers managed to resuscitate her using two doses of Narcan, a cure for an opioid overdose. She was on probation and had been sentenced to six months in a closed rehabilitation program.
The police had aired their image to "attract attention and show what is a heroin overdose".

Hurt says his big motivation is his son Parker, with whom he managed to build the link that he had not before. As he explained, he did not use drugs during his pregnancy, but relapse two months after childbirth.
"I was physically present for my son, but I was not mentally there for him and I missed all his first milestones," he lamented. The overdose and the photo "were my turning point, I decided to really want to be sober and to be in my son's life"he added.
Hurt managed to regain control of his son and works full time. Until now, I was looking at the photo of his overdose every time he celebrated a year of sobriety.
