The abuser, identified by police as Connor Betts, 24, was a graduate of Bellbrook High School in Ohio.

According to US media The Washington Post, I recently studied psychology at a community college and worked in a local Chipotle food chain.

On Sunday morning, he was wearing a mask, a bulletproof vest, hearing protection, additional ammunition for his .223 caliber rifle and large capacity magazines.

He fired for the first time at 01:05 local time (05:05 GMT) in front of the Ned Peppers Bar, located in the Oregon District in downtown Dayton, said Richard Biehl, chief of the local police.

He unloaded a dozen other explosions before being killed by police.

His motives for committing the crime are unclear.

The shoot lasted less than 30 seconds.

Betts had bought the rifle online and legally from a Texas supplier.

"Nothing in the record or the story of this individual has prevented him from buying this gun," said Richard Biehl, chief of the local police.

But the CBS network, a partner of the BBC in the United States, has resumed controversial episodes of the time when Betts was a student.

List of people to kill

CBS reports that at that time, the young man was holding a list of people he wanted to kill.

The relationship included girls who refused to go out with him.

Betts was reportedly arrested because of this list and reportedly was away from school for a while before returning shortly thereafter.

Sources who knew him describe him as "unstable" and "extremely aggressive," according to CBS.

Two consecutive shootings

Images of security cameras taken early in the morning of the attack show dozens of people running near the door of Ned Peppers' premises, trying to flee Betts.

Seconds later, he is also seen running towards the place and being shot by police when he arrives at the door.

"If this individual had gone through the door of Ned Peppers with weapons of this level, the number of dead and wounded would have been catastrophic," said agent Biehl.

The Dayton shooting in Ohio was the second in the United States. in less than 24 hours
