Six people who were traveling on a private plane died on Thursday after the plane is going to crash in Southeast Alaska, the United States Coast Guard said.
Rescue services in the country’s northernmost state responded to a distress beacon at around 11:20 a.m. (local time) 8 miles northeast of Ketchikan, Alaska, the coast guard said in a statement.
“A crew of MH-60 Jayhawk helicopters from the the Sitka Coast Guard located the wreckage at 2:37 p.m. and dispatched two lifeguard swimmers who reported there were no survivors ”added.
The pilot of another helicopter reported seeing debris on a hillthe coast guard said in its report.
The de Havilland Beaver seaplane, was a vessel that could be supported by floats in the water, it was carrying five passengers and the pilot. The Flight, Misty Fjords National Monument Park Party.
The passengers were tourists on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam cruise ship, the company said on Twitter.
“We can confirm that a seaplane carrying five guests from Nieuw Amsterdam was involved in an accident at Ketchikan, and there are no survivors,” he wrote.
“It was an independent tour that Holland America Line did not sell. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims. “
Several travel agencies offer tours of the fjords around Ketchikan, which are surrounded by lush forests and almost vertical rock faces. The fjords are vast narrow valleys, elongated and bounded by high mountains that flow into the sea.
Most tours include a seaplane landing and the region has suffered multiple accidents in recent years.
In May 2019, six people were killed after two seaplanes collided in the air while carrying passengers on a cruise ship expedition.
In 2015, an Otter plane crashed into a granite rock wall, killing all nine on board, near a lake in the Misty Fjords area.
And in 2007, five people died when youn A Beaver seaplane carrying tourists crashed in the same area.
ANOTHER INCIDENT IN MEXICO
The plane crash in Alaska is the second plane crash to occur in less than a month. In mid-July, a King Air C90 aircraft collapsed on runway 3 at “Guadalupe Victoria” International Airport in the city of Durango, Mexico. In fact, they reported one deceased person and one injured person.
The Ministry of Communications and Transport, by means of a press release, confirmed the death of a person: the pilot of the plane.
The Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) reported that the King Air aircraft, with US original registration N333WW, rushed almost an hour and a half after taking off from the international airport of San Luis Potosí.
