The union of mechanics and workers in the automotive sector (Smata) announced Monday it has reached an agreement with the Iveco plant for the production of CNG trucks to maintain about 200 jobs until December 2020.

"The plant is committed to bringing the CNG truck, we registered the commitment to start in August with the prototype to be able to manufacture 20 trucks in the production line in December, which would allow us to protect all positions of work ", said José Porras, Secretary General of Smata, to The voice.

According to the agreement signed between the guild, after negotiations in Córdoba and Buenos Aires with the company, this LNG truck project responds to a union concern, because the change of logic in which the stands have stopped producing locally has been moved to mounting stands from Brazil.

"The arrival of Brazil's seats will be temporary," they told the guild. On the other hand, they said that "in the event that the CNG truck manufacturing project does not work, the company will continue to produce cabins in our country".

Last month, Iveco announced that from November, the Trakker models, Tector 170, 240, 260, Hi Road 360, 440, 480 and 560, Cursor 9 and Cursor 13 would only be badembled in their factory in Cordoba. with cabins imported from Brazil, a situation that put Smata on the alert in case of job losses.

Points

The company and the union also agreed:

  • In the event of suspension, the operators will charge 75% of the net salary.
  • There will be a process of adaptation for the sheet metal line and painting of the cabins and at the same time, the operators of these lines will be trained so that they can be part of other processes.
