“Sorry, you saw something you shouldn’t see”

In these hours a brutal crime moves Paraguay after learning yesterday that a woman had found her two-year-old son dead and the 14 others missing on his return from work, in the town of Pedro Juan Caballero.

It was around 5 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, when the woman arrived at her home in the Bernardino Caballero neighborhood and found her grandson lying on the bed and covered with a sheet. He was dead. Her other 14-year-old son, who had been in the care of his younger brother, was missing.

To complete this wonderful picture, next to the child’s body, there was a macabre note written on a sheet of a school notebook: “Sorry your son saw something he shouldn’t see. We have the other eldest son ”.

After collapsing, the woman took the boy’s body to the Pedro Juan Caballero Regional Hospital, but the little boy he had already been dead for several hours, as determined by forensics.

The first hypothesis police was that strangers entered the residence and, after killing the child, proceeded to kidnap the teenager. However, everything suddenly changed when that idea was dismissed thanks to footage from a security camera in the area, in which no one was seen to have entered the house.

In the records it is observed, yes, the older brother leaving home alone with an unknown destination, according to the Paraguayan newspaper La Nación.

The images corroborate the account of the owner of the house where the family lives, who told the police that “around noon she saw the two little brothers playing in the yard, then they entered the room, and that around 3 am. 30 hours he saw the elder brother heading towards the street ”, according to Commissioner Hugo Díaz told local media.

“It is assumed that it is the minor who wrote the letter”, the researchers noted. According to the data, no signs of violence or sexual abuse were found on the boy’s body, so police believe the choking was accidental or the product of play.

The prosecutor in the Reinalda Palacios case, ordered the seizure of the teenager’s notebooks to submit them to an expertise and thus determine whether the letter was written by his own hand. The 14-year-old is currently the prime suspect in the death of his own brother, police said.

And the first signs would already indicate that the letter was written by the missing teenager. What happened inside the house? It’s a mystery. They think he may have mistakenly killed him while playing, or that the murder answered hate questions the young man had yet to uncover.

The medical examiner estimated that the baby arrived at the hospital with a rigor mortis around four to five hours, so it is presumed that he died between one or two in the afternoon.

According to local media, the parents were separated and the mother of the boys crossed the border with Brazil every day to go to work, the boys were left alone.
