A few days ago the youtubeur Spanish Agustín Ostos, known as the “Soy Tribe”, sparked controversy after he published stories where he was seen walking the streets of Ocaña, Norte de Santander, and that a group of young people went give him drugs.

Last Sunday he posted the video where he shows the trip he made from Mompox, Bolívar, to the municipality of La Playa de Belén, in Norte de Santander. According to what is seen in his video, the trip was made to know the unique natural space Los Estoraques.

In the video, you can see how the locals greet and show affection to the youtuber, who is surprised by the reception of its content in such a remote area.

“My mother, I didn’t know there was so much Soy Tribu community in Ocaña. What is happening here?“Says the Spanish YouTuber as he travels the streets of the town on a motorcycle.

When the Spaniard received the token of affection from the locals, a car driving along Francisco Fernández de Contreras Avenue asked him to stop and one of the passengers got out of the vehicle and handed him a small envelope containing drugs saying: “To make the trip more enjoyable.”

After realizing what they gave him, the young man said: “It wasn’t that cool uncle, they gave me drugs.”

“But what need was there to donate drugs, when the best of all is the human warmth of the Colombian people?“, He assured after having lived the uncomfortable scene.

In the video, the youtuber said that Colombians They are resilient and we must underline the positive of the country, which is above the war that Colombia is going through.

“In Ocaña, I received the greatest and the best welcome, not only of my whole trip, but also of my whole life”, ended.

And it is that this region has one of the largest quantities of drug crops in the world, as revealed by the UN in the 2020 report, which once again places the first country as the main producer of cocaine despite a reduction in harvests.

“Norte de Santander is consolidated as the department with the largest planted area in the country, with 40,084” hectares, said the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Undoc) in Colombia in the document presented in June. 2021.

The organization had already unveiled on June 9 the general figures on the monitoring of illicit crops in 2020, when cocaine production had increased by 8% (1,228 tons), despite a 7% drop in crops planted (143,000 hectares).

For the first time, Norte de Santander passed Nariño, on the border with Ecuador, as the department with the largest coca cultivated area in the country, according to the report. Nariño concentrates 30,751 hectares planted, 10,000 less than the area adjacent to Venezuela.

For the UN, the border territories “present favorable conditions” for the sowing of the coca leaf and “its articulation with the other links in the chain of drug trafficking”.

According to the annual report, plantations and production have consolidated at the borders with Ecuador and Venezuela, where armed conflict fueled by drug trafficking and illegal mining rebounds, after the signing of peace with the guerrillas of the FARC in 2016.
