At least 10 Mexicans died in a car crash in California, United States, informed Roberto Velasco Álvarez, responsible for directing the North American policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE).

Through Twitter, the official confirmed the unfortunate events that occurred in the Imperial Valley region. He also confirmed that the Mexican Consulate in California is in constant communication with local authorities.

“Unfortunately, consulate staff have confirmed the deaths of ten Mexicans so far,” he said.

In this way, the official assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would help the deceased and injured Mexicans of Mexican nationality.

According to the consulate’s statement, one of the cars struck by a freight truck carrying gravel was carrying 27 passengers, of which at least 13 have died.
