As part of the fight against Covid 19 and the acquisition of vaccines, private parties have started consultations with various laboratories to obtain doses. Infectologist Daniel Stamboulian, medical director of Stamboulian health services, said Bugle who has already inquired with Pfizer and Moderna to buy vaccines and distribute them throughout the country.

So far, he has spoken with referents from both laboratories. “From Pfizer, they told me that there will be no stock before the beginning of July. They did not give a date for Moderna, but we are in contact, ”explains Stamboulian. And he adds: “The idea is acquire 700 thousand“.

For his part, Claudio Belocopitt, president of Swiss Medical and the Argentine Health Union (UAS), which brings together part of the private sector, maintains that also intends to buy vaccines. “When the possibility exists, of course. So far we have not had positive results with the steps we have started, ”he says.

“According to the laboratories they tell us that, for the moment, they have no dose to negotiate directly with private companies”, confirms Belocopitt. This ensures that they are not able to orient themselves towards a brand and that on the contrary, they are “open to chat with everyone “.

For Belocopitt, “vaccine production must increase in the coming months”. “When that happens, we will have greater access opportunities,” he notes. And he specifies that “if a vaccine is obtained, he will advance in phase with the state“.

“I mean that the way forward will be sketched out in relation to the distribution of these doses as a whole. The objective is follow certain guidelines related to the age or risk of those who receive them. It is a very delicate question and it must be taken that way, ”he adds.

The consultation of Bugle arises after the chief of staff, Santiago Cafiero, clarified that the national governmentHe is not the only one activated to buy vaccines.

“There is an error that is amplified and over there we do not stop to explain everything. The provinces and the municipality can buy vaccines themselves and private vaccines as well. It’s not banned in Argentina, ”Cafiero said last Wednesday in statements to TN. And he pointed out that “in the vaccine law that it was approved last year is very clear. “

Then he added that “with the level of scarcity that exists, anyone who goes to the market to buy is going to get them for who knows what month.”

What the regulations say

Pablo Yedlin, president of the Committee of Deputies for Social Action and Public Health, explains that “any private person (whether it is a pharmacy, a pharmacy, a dispensary or a vaccine) can buy drugs registered by the ANMAT ”and that“ vaccines are included in the standard ”.

In this sense, he specifies that they could leave the private sector with doses of Pfizer and of AstraZeneca, both authorized by ANMAT. Another should be the tour with the Sputnik V and Sinopharm vaccines, which have been recommended by ANMAT and approved by the Ministry of Health. “For the latter, the government should allow entry batch by batch,” he adds.

There are other vaccines such as Moderna and Johnson & Johnson that are not yet registered with ANMAT. “This requirement should be met before its acquisition. This is something easy to achieve because these are developments that have already been approved by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), ”Yedlin explains.

However, for the national deputy of Tucumán “There is no market to add to the private sector For what, at the moment, these are only hypotheses. “

“The laboratories promised millions of doses that they did not deliver. Pfizer, for its part, arranged to give Brazil about 100 million doses. There is a long delay, ”he warns.

Finally, he underlines that the law which has been sanctioned in relation to Covid 19 envisages the abolition of customs taxes and VAT on vaccines against the coronavirus for the acquisition by “Nation and provinces”, But not for private individuals.

“These are extras that, if not eliminated, will impact the final value of the vaccine. Likewise, there is no need to anticipate: it may be that, by the time individuals come to buy doses, those of Covid 19 are already included in the compulsory vaccination schedule and, therefore, are exempt payment of taxes, ”he explains.

Faced with this complex scenario, with a total of 2,551,999 infected since the start of the pandemic and 57,957 dead, not only private companies are trying to open a dialogue to obtain doses.

The city and provinces of Mendoza, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos are already facing the same research, although they agree that in this case getting vaccines will not be easy.
