A magnitude 7.1 earthquake shook Peru on Friday, particularly in the city of Arequipa, where the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded.

The strong earthquake began at 5:50 am local time and was felt in much of the Peruvian territory as well as in Arica, a border town with Chile. It was also felt in Brazil and Bolivia.

It has not emerged yet that there are any victims.

In Chile, where the earthquake was also found, the National Emergency Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior (ONEMI) ordered preventive evacuation in the regions of Arica and Parinacota due the threat of the tsunami.
