Strong repression of the National Guard against volunteers

The Bolivarian National Guard of Venezuela fired pellet and tear gas at opposition sympathizers concentrated on the Colombian side of the border when they attempted to enter Venezuelan territory.

"We were trying to reconcile ourselves for humanitarian aid and the National Guard started suppressing us, firing tear gas, attacking the lives of our people," said an activist on Caracol radio.

Opponents are trying to form a human chain to transfer humanitarian aid sent by the United States to Venezuela despite the refusal of the authorities to accept this cargo. Many opposition supporters are nuts.

This dispute is part of the open political crisis after the president of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Juan Guaidó opposition, declared himself president in charge of the country on Jan. 23 because he considered Maduro's new presidential mandate illegal.
