In the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, in the state of Minas Gerais, the owner of a mobile phone shop shot and wounded a criminal during an attempted armed robbery on Wednesday, Globo reports.
In footage captured by a security camera, the thief poses as a customer and talks to the owner. When the place is empty, the assailant pulls out a pistol and points his victim to steal it. However, as he is about to run away, the store owner pulls out his own gun and shoots the criminal.
The thief fell to the ground after receiving two gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital, where he underwent an operation. His life is not in danger, although he remains in police custody. Security forces later also arrested the accomplice of the injured man who, at the time of the assault, was on the street on a motorcycle, waiting for his partner.
Police say the owner of the business has his firearm legally registered.
