Strong video: two offenders who killed a taxi driver were burned

The neighbors of a Guatemalan city have decided to do justice to themselves and they set fire to two offenders charged with the murder of a taxi driver in Puerto Barrios, Izabal, a community 296 kilometers from the Guatemalan capital.

According to local media, subjects aged 18 and 19, terminated the driver's life after he refused to pay extortion to be able to work in the field of large commercial flows.

After what happened, a crowd of about 500 people captured the youths and brutally beat them, gagged them and set them on fire until they died.

In this regard, the police authorities explained that a group of people had managed to capture the two men, who had first been taken to the National Civil Police Station.

However, When the agents tried to move the suspects to another site, about 500 people intervened and managed to forcibly arrest the two alleged killers of the taxi driver.

While several policemen and the father of one of the victims were trying to rescue them, the enraged neighbors prevented him from doing so.

At a press conference, the police authorities and the mayor of Izabal said that an investigation would be open to the office. The two young people burned were Victor Armando Reyes Chachagua, 18, and Oliver Francisco Gonzales, 19.

It is to highlight that lynchings have become commonplace in Guatemala because of residents' mistrust of security and justice agencies, at the heart of a wave of violence that kills nearly 6,000 people a year. Currently, almost half of the crimes are linked to gangs and drug trafficking.
