Study found that in places where few vaccines are given, there is a five times greater chance of dying from COVID-19

Hospitalization and death rate are higher in states with low immunization rates, in the USA.

Chain CNN released a report on Wednesday indicating that those who live in areas with “low vaccination rates, are four times more likely to be hospitalized and five times more likely to die”.

The study compared data from the 10 states with the lowest immunization rate with figures from 10 other entities where a higher number of immunizations were reported.

In places where fewer vaccinations were given, at least 41% of their residents received both doses. While in states where more people have been immunized, only 58% of residents have received a single dose of the covid vaccine.

According to the report, in the 10 states with the highest vaccination rates, that is, where more than 58% of their residents have been vaccinated against the coronavirus with a single dose, hospitalization rates were four times higher than in localities where the full vaccination schedule was applied.

According to the analysis of CNN on federal data, death rates are also 5.5 times higher in states where the population has received only one dose of the anticovid vaccine.

The 10 states with the lowest vaccination rates are Alabama, Mississippi, Wyoming, Idaho, Louisiana, Arkansas, West Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Dakota. Data from the US Department of Health and Human Services shows an average of 39 people hospitalized with COVID-19 per 100,000 population in those states.

In contrast, in the 10 states with the highest vaccination rates, only 10 out of 100,000 people were hospitalized.

Top 10 States with High vaccination rates are Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Washington and New York.

In states with the lowest immunization rates, there is an average of about 34 deaths per million people, and in states with the highest immunizations, the average is six deaths per million. according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

CDC Director Dr Rochelle Wallensky told the press conference that the country has an average of 500 daily deaths due to covid-19, deaths which “remain largely preventable”.

“In areas with low vaccination coverage, we continue to hear too many heartbreaking stories of people who have not been vaccinated and contracted severe COVID-19,” he said. “In these areas, the data shows us that the more people there are in the hospital, the more people tragically die from covid-19.”
