On Niemeyer Avenue, in the South Zone, landslides and tree falls have reached two buses, closing the streets in both directions. The driver of one of the vehicles reportedly told Rio Mayor Marcelo Crivella that two people could not escape. They are considered missing.
The rescue teams have been working since last night to gain access to the inside of the seriously damaged bus. On the same line, a landslide in Niemeyer also caused the fall of part of the Tim Maia bike path. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians in this area remains prohibited.
Also in the avenue of Barra de Tijuca, in Itanhangá, in the western part of the city, the storm caused the fall of a wall that divides the area, in the sense of Alto de Boa Vista.
At the same time, the Civil Defense and the Under-Secretariat for Protection announced that the sirens of the communities of Rocinha and Sítio Pai João, in Itanhangá, had been activated yesterday at 21:48.
