Super Etendard aircraft bought in France are transferred to Argentina

It was nearly a year and a half ago that Argentina announced the purchase in France of five Super Etendard aircraft "a bit old", took off in recent hours from the ship that will ship them to our country .

There are five units deprogrammed by the gala navy, which were acquired in 2017 according to the "state-to-state" modality, without appeal for prior offers, in the course of an operation of nearly 15 million of dollars.

During a dialogue with Reuters, the French ambbadador to our country, Pierre Henri Guignard, said at the time of purchase that the planes were "a bit old" and that the price paid for these are "symbolic" because they are not new and they have reached an agreement for the purchase of the boats.

The planes had been purchased for use at the G20 Summit held since November 30 in Buenos Aires.

According to Infobae, the Super Etendards, used until 2016 by France, are distinguished by their excellent performance in mid and low altitude flight; the ability to be refueled in mid-flight and the fact that it is suitable not only for naval combat, but also to hit fixed targets ashore.

In Argentina, they began to be used in 1980, when 14 units were acquired.

The model gained prestige for its performance during the 1982 Falklands War, when participating planes caused significant damage to the Royal Navy, such as the sinking of the Sheffield frigate.

Once in the country, the five units acquired in France will be transported to the naval workshops of Comandante Espora, in Bahía Blanca, to be repaired by Argentine Navy personnel.
