Ten curiosities about Coca Cola

On May 8, 1886, Dr. John Pemberton accidentally mixed his syrup with sparkling water and produced the incomparable taste of the famous Coca Cola.

133 years have pbaded since this discovery and between new products – like the can with coffee flavor, where the new soda with orange and vanilla and the line for drinks-, slogans and characters who advertise it, America Retail reveals ten curiosities of this popular drink.

1 The shape of the glbad bottle, called contour, was designed in 1915 and is inspired by the cocoa bean: oval and elongated.

2 From 1886 to 2009, the brand's slogan changed 47 times for better representation and better identification with the company. His first slogan was that of 1886: Drink Coca-Cola (drink Coca-Cola), in 1923, he changed to Enjoy Thrist, in 1957, he was "Sign of good taste", in 2005, he used Make C'est réel (Make it possible) and from 2009 to the present day, Open Happiness (Uncover happiness).

3 Famous as Elvis Presley, Diego Armando Maradona, Luis Miguel, Christina Aguilera, Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift are some of the characters who lent their image to the brand.

4 The Santa Claus that we know today is thanks to this drink and to the illustrator Haddon Sundblom, who created the fleshy and bearded figure wearing red wearing a Coca-Cola. Before that, Santa's clothes were green.

5 Coca Cola is even in the art.

The surrealist Salvador Dalí used the outline of the bottle in his painting The Poetry of America, 1943.

Similarly, Robert Rauschenberg, in 1958, pasted three bottles of empty soda in his work Coca-Cola Plan.

6 Mexico is the country that buys the most Coca-Cola products in the world. According to the Brand Footprint study conducted by Kantar Worldpanel in Mexico, 1,354 million Coca-Cola products were purchased in 2018, compared to 1,090 million in the United States.

7 In 1985, Coca-Cola became the first soft drink to reach the space.

8 Few people know about Coca-Cola's secret formula. The concentrate is centrally manufactured and exported to more than 9,000 bottling plants around the world.

9 Nearly 10,450 Coca-Cola soft drinks are consumed every second of every day, including Coca Cola Light, Fanta and Sprite.

10. "Coca Cola" is the second most understood term in the world after "OK".
