Tension in Venezuela: Three soldiers who blocked the border with Colombia deserted

Three Venezuelan national guards, part of the contingent of soldiers blocking the border, were deserting and traveling to the Colombian border on a border bridge.

Raising their arms and holding their regular weapons, the three young skinny soldiers, dressed in the olive uniform, cross several metal barriers and go to Simón Bolívar's border bridge to the Colombian authorities of migration who ask them to throw themselves in order to requisition them, according to images recorded by several journalists of the place.

The desertions occurred a few hours after Venezuelan aid promoting humanitarian aid aimed at alleviating the crisis that is affecting millions of Venezuelan residents.

President Nicolás Maduro rejected the opposition's initiative, saying it was part of the pretext for a foreign military intervention in Venezuela.

Gas

The Venezuelan National Guard released gas this morning to residents who broke through the barriers of a border crossing between Venezuela and Colombia so that humanitarian aid could pbad.

Tensions erupted at dawn at the entrance to the Francisco de Paula Santander Bridge, in the border town of Ureña, Venezuela.

The leader of the opposition, Juan Guaidó, has promised to bring Colombian humanitarian aid despite the objections of President Nicolás Maduro.

Venezuelan authorities have closed the border with Colombia after crossing the border between Brazil and the island of Curacao, other points of entry for aid.

But residents of Ureña, defying the government's orders, began removing barricades made of yellow metal and barbed wire.
