The situation in Cali is reaching its limit, because in the last hours they have started to broadcast videos where armed civilians are clearly seen threatening and shooting at the native guard.

In a first video, you can see how men dressed in white point and shoot people who weren in a sector of the city demonstrating peacefully. Even one of the attackers pulls out his gun and fires in the presence of a policeman, who tries to protect him.

Another image circulating shows how two armed men behind a white truck and with a pistol, before shooting the natives.

The following video shows a man pointing to a Native Guard truck and shooting at the protesters, while the recording woman shouts “Vayansén (sic) indios” and applauds the attack.

In another image, the attack is more clearly appreciated, as it was a video recorded by one of the same civilians shouting “It’s a civil war” before firing. In addition, another of these citizens can be seen pulling right next to the car.

In this last image, a man is seen walking through the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood armed with a powerful rifle, accompanied by an entourage of other paramilitaries in civilian clothes.

The native guard who are in Cali and other areas of Valle del Cauca to support and take care of the peaceful demonstration were the target of a gunshot attack. According to a statement by the Association of Native Cabildos of Norte del Cauca, at 2:20 p.m.. a group of minga, which was in the Jamundí region, was attacked by several people trying to lift the blockade.

So far, several members of the community have been shot and wounded as a result of the attack. This occurs in the context of racist statements by the accused Álvaro Uribe, as well as the mayor of Cali and officials of the Cali zoo. We understand that this responds to a tactic of repression that differs attacks from civilians in uniform to armed civilians who act as a tactic of repression that differs from attacks from civilians in uniform to armed civilians who act as paramilitaries.

In the video you can hear the gunfire against indigenous peoples, who run behind those who take the blows. In the background of the story, a man says he is injured and is helped by the others present.

Regarding the attacks, the Cali police, the police defended themselves by saying that it was the natives who attacked several vehicles and ensure that there was a presence of the mobile riot squad to control the situation:

Here is the full statement:

For its part, the Association of Native Cabildos of Norte del Cauca has published another statement denouncing and rejecting the Cali police statements about what happened in the church of La María, south of Cali.

“We specify to public opinion that at 2:20 p.m. in the afternoon of this Sunday, May 9, when three goats belonging to the indigenous communities of northern Cauca were traveling from Cali to Jamundí, they were intercepted by two trucks on Avenida Cañas Fat girls at the level of the La María church sector, which were crossed preventing the passage “, you can read in the statement.

In the documents they count as men with white shirts and short guns and at a long distance, they decided to open fire on the three goats in which there were old men and children. After the attack, nine people were reportedly injured.

Later, the community tries to take cover and flee, but from an unknown sector of the slope next to the road, they are again attacked by firearms, automatic, causing chaos and confusion. In the region.

Indigenous community members say police are telling lies about alleged “gun bearing” and they say these statements add to “a long chain of uprisings and stigmatization by the law enforcement agencies against all sectors that are part of the Minga and the national strike.”

We demand respect and honor for the truth from an institution like the national police which claims to protect the good honor of all citizens. But at the same time, we denounce their complicity, strongly corroborated by videos and photographs, with armed civilians who shoot indiscriminately against unarmed people, acting as paramilitaries.

“We totally repudiate those people who have no right to threaten the lives of our communities, or any other population, and we urge the national and international guarantors of human rights for the events that have occurred today. “, concludes the press release from the natives.

Earlier, the mayor of the city, Jorge Iván Ospina, spoke about the members of the indigenous communities that are in the capital Vallecaucana. ANDIn his statement, which is included in the newspaper El País de Cali, the president questioned the actions of indigenous people.

“It does not seem fair to me that the native guard stop cars, investigate them, because it disturbs the citizens, many of them are scandalized by this situation”said the president. In this sense, Ospina urged Hermes Pete, senior advisor to the Cauca Regional Indigenous Council (Cric), to put an end to these incidents.

His men should not be doing research; They shouldn’t be doing almost any police security job in our city.

He held that “Everyone is welcome and welcome”, but “they have to be within our standards and parameters to work”. “Those who are not part of Cali should not be in charge; There should be no pretext for foreigners to fulfill the role that our city should fulfill, ”President de Caleño said.
