1) The opinion of scientists
The latest tests began in July, with 44,000 participants worldwide. Half of them received the vaccine, while the rest were injected with a saltwater placebo. Scientists then waited to see which volunteers contracted the disease to determine whether the vaccine was effective or not.
Only 94 people fell ill. A group of specialists outside of Pfizer and BioNtech have come to the conclusion that the effectiveness is over 90%.

Testing will continue until 164 people contract COVID-19. Thereafter, the study will be considered completed.
3) The first people to receive the vaccine
Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer, explained that between 30 and 40 million doses could be produced before the end of the year. The criteria for deciding who will receive these doses have not yet been determined, but different jurisdictions globally have expressed their willingness to prioritize groups at highest risk.
